Principal Scientist

in a biotech company focused on the discovery, design and development of innovative peptide-based medicines

Currently, we are looking for a new Principal Scientist with a strong drug discovery profile. If this sounds like you, and you are ready to take on a broad area of responsibilities with an independent attitude, we want to bond with you.

We are seeking for a Principal Scientist to join the Department of Molecular Pharmacology. Our department is a team of 9 scientists and 7 technicians dedicated to advancing our research and development projects through the generation of in vitro and biomarker data towards clinical trials. As a team we use a range of molecular biology methodologies, biochemical and cellular assays to support the identification and optimization of our drug candidates. To build our future pipeline, we are also important in the identification, maturation, and initiation of new projects.

In this position, you will have responsibilities both in the department (developing assays and analyzing data), as well as in cross functional project teams (progressing the projects and anchoring the in vitro data package and biology).

Responsibilities

In this role you have the responsibility and opportunity to develop and progress our pipeline:

Work with the department scientists and technicians to deliver data, conclusions and recommendations to our research and development projects.
Identify and implement new assays, technologies, and methods in the lab, independently and with other members of the department.
Be one of the drivers in identification, maturation, and/or evaluation of new project ideas.
Represent the department on several research/development projects, providing input to the project concept, science, and plans, as well as overseeing these plans in the department.
On selected projects, take the role of project manager, leading the project team on a path to discover and develop new clinical candidates.

Candidate profile

We are looking for someone who has most or all of the below qualifications:

A PhD degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, molecular pharmacology, or a related field with 10+ years of experience of drug discovery
Experience with cell-based assays and biomarkers.
Experience with Drug Discovery Project Management in pharma/biotech
Experience with metabolic disease and/or inflammation biology
A good balance between high level overview and an eye for details when needed.
Positive attitude, drive, excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as in a team.
Experience with analysis of large data sets is desirable, but not a requirement.
