BE THE NEW
Senior Director, New Product Planning
in a biotech company focused on the discovery, design and development of innovative peptide-based medicines
Currently,
we are looking for a new Sr. Director of New Product Planning (NPP), who has 10-15 years of prior Commercial experience leading across multiple functions with complementary expertise in early-stage commercialization and US/EU market access. Ideal background also includes experience at a top VC-like investor or as part of the Business Development or New Product Planning team in a biotech company. If this sounds like you, and you are ready to take on a broad area of responsibilities with an independent attitude, you are a match for us.
In collaboration with the commercial and drug development team, the Sr. Director of NPP is accountable for evaluating the commercial opportunity and setting the strategic direction for the early pipeline program, considering key dimensions such as unmet medical need, the competitive environment, market size and patient segmentation with a heavy emphasis on market access barriers and reimbursement challenges in the US, Europe and ROW. The Sr. Director reports to the VP of Commercial, who reports directly to Corporate Management. This is a very visible, hands-on role interfacing with multiple R&D teams and has significant opportunity to create long term impact throughout our R&D pipeline with structured new product planning and market access capabilities.
Responsibilities
Establish a comprehensive commercial business case assessment for all assets entering the R&D portfolio in collaboration with disease state project teams and the Operations organization.
Provide strategic guidance and commercial expertise to research and early development teams.
Represent the New Product Planning function at the core/project team level, as well as in project review committee meetings.
Ensure the project teams continually validate the viability of the underlying commercial business case for all R&D programs at pre-specified milestones and as significant changes or opportunities arise.
Review and analyze emerging pre-clinical and clinical data objectively to highlight opportunities and risks.
In collaboration with the project and commercial teams, map attractiveness of portfolio assets relative to each other and support the project prioritization process across the R&D portfolio.
Work with team members to maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of the competitive environment and continuously assess potential impact on ongoing clinical programs.
Candidate profile
Degree in life sciences required; advanced degree preferred (e.g. PhD, MBA).
Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry with 10-15 years of Commercial experience leading across multiple functions, working directly with Global Marketing, Market Access, Medical, R&D, Regulatory, and Legal. Ideally, prior experience also includes a minimum of 5-8 years at a top VC-like investor or as part of the Business Development team in a biotech company.
Complementary expertise in a discipline associated with early-stage commercialization preferred; ideal candidate has experience in multiple areas of the industry.
Recognized leadership skills in direct and matrixed environments and the ability to align different parts of the organization to enable effective decision making.
Demonstrated ability to iterate between high-level strategic thinking and detailed operational implementation. This position will be called on to pivot between various commercial workstreams depending on the current business environment.
Demonstrated excellence in effective communication, influencing, and negotiation for a wide variety of audiences. Comfortable operating within ambiguity, able to identify insights and drive decisions.
Strong strategic thinking, collaboration, facilitative leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to build strong collaborative relationships with project team members and executives and demonstrate the ability to assimilate and apply new knowledge rapidly.
Visceral understanding of overall brand strategy and business plans as it relates to commercialization in an R&D environment focused on securing business development partnerships.
Excellent oral and written English communication skills a must.
