Senior Legal Counsel
in a biotech company focused on the discovery, design and development of innovative peptide-based medicines
Currently, we are looking for a skilled and dedicated Senior Legal Counsel, who has several years of experience and interest in fostering successful business relationship through well-crafted partnership agreements and would appreciate working in an international setting. The successful candidate will play an important role in advising stakeholders on structuring and drafting partnership agreements that align our strategic goals. As Senior Legal Counsel (Director Position) you will report direct to the General Counsel who is a member of the management team and be expected to take a lead on the negotiation and execution of commercial partnership agreements that support Zealand’s partnership strategy. We are business-oriented and have a value-adding approach and we work both independently and in cross-functional groups.
Responsibilities
You will be the main driver of all partnership agreements within Zealand and ensure that key stakeholders in Business Development, Alliance Management, and Finance have a single point of contact for legal advice when planning for, executing and then management of partnership agreements.
Understand Zealand’s strategic ambitions within product research & development, sourcing and ensure alignment with legal terms in partner contracts.
Work closely with our Business Development, Alliance Management and other stakeholders when entering into complex and large-scale partner agreements to ensure a position that matches Zealand’s needs and ambitions.
Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that legal considerations are integrated into all business decisions and that all legal decisions are driven by and aligned with business objectives and strategy.
Act as a strategic sounding board to leaders, particularly within Business Development, Alliance Management, Finance, and other key stakeholders
Act as a key member of the legal department representing best contracting practices within Zealand and drive a professional approach to partnership agreements within the organization.
Oversight and liaison with external counsel involved in partnership agreement and contract negotiation.
Provide legal counsel on various partnership agreement structures, terms, and risks.
Candidate profile
Your interpersonal skills, such as the ability to build relations, establish trust and collaborate across different functions are key to thriving and succeeding in this role. You have a solid business sense and can factor in a multitude of facts when making decisions, sometimes during ongoing negotiations.
Furthermore, you
Are a qualified lawyer (In Denmark or any jurisdiction) or cand.merc.jur.
Have several years of experience as a lawyer which can be from private practice or from an in-house counsel role in an international organization with a proven track record of working with contracts.
An experience with and an understanding of pharmaceutical or biotech development
Are forward-thinking with a good commercial understanding and ability to balance legal risks with business risks and business needs.
Have experience with managing business complexity in a organization.
A significant level of independence, innovation, and initiative to lead and develop the area of partnership and alliance contracting.
8+ years of legal experience
Be fluent in English.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
