Medical Director / Medical Manager
in a biotech company focused on the discovery, design and development of innovative peptide-based medicines
Currently, we are seeking a new Medical Director/Medical Manager with a medical background, experience in designing trials and drug development programs, and a track record in clinical research and science within the areas of obesity or metabolic diseases. We are looking for a self-driven, team-oriented colleague with the ability to lead cross-functional teams towards innovative solutions, ensuring the highest standards in clinical development programs for our drug candidates. The Medical & Science department comprises 5 Medical Experts and two Clinical Pharmacologists, each with diverse backgrounds. In this role, you will report to the Head of Medical & Science and contribute to all medical and scientific aspects of one or more projects in mid- and late-stage clinical development within our obesity pipeline. Responsibilities
Create and guide clinical development plans for selected projects, working closely with project teams.
Develop clinical trial outlines, ensuring excellence in design that aligns with strategy and the requirements of the assigned drug development projects.
Serve as Zealand’s medical expert for designated clinical projects and trials.
Provide medical subject matter expertise to the clinical and project teams as needed, liaising with other drug development disciplines regarding trial conduct, statistical methodology, data analysis, interpretation, reporting, and regulatory matters.
Support the execution of the strategy and other project-related tasks, ensuring on-time delivery with the highest quality.
Aid the clinical team in executing the clinical development plan.
Ensure proper medical monitoring, even when the role is delegated to appropriately qualified medical personnel, such as external consultants or CROs, in accordance with SOPs.
Operate in compliance with applicable guidelines and regulatory plans/advice to ultimately facilitate marketing authorizations.
Prepare essential documentation required to support the execution of the clinical program and the materials needed to address clinical queries from regulatory agencies, as well as for product approval by regulatory bodies.
Offer relevant post-approval medical and life-cycle support.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate will possess most or all of the following qualifications:
A medical education is required; specialization is not mandatory.
Proven pharma experience with hands-on involvement in drug development, including the preparation of clinical development plans, clinical pharmacology trials, or later-stage trials.
Clinical experience within the areas of obesity/metabolic/endocrine is preferred.
Scientific experience within relevant areas; a PhD or equivalent is ideal.
Demonstrated ability to drive and lead scientific project sub-teams toward results in a complex scientific field or within a pharmaceutical organization.
Experience from a lead medical role or a similar position is advantageous.
Experience with regulatory affairs, regulatory agency meetings, and drug registration is preferred.
The ability to work independently and actively contribute as a highly collaborative team player.
