in a biotech company focused on the discovery, design and development of innovative peptide-based medicines
Currently, we are looking for a new Principal Scientist for Department of Molecular Pharmacology. We are searching to expand our team, with a person possessing in-depth knowledge in the fields of metabolism, obesity and inflammation. In addition, our new colleague should have a passion for and experience with development of in vitro/ex vivo translational disease models. If this sounds like you, and you are ready to take on a broad area of responsibilities with an independent attitude, you are a match for us.
Department of Molecular Pharmacology comprise a team of 10 scientists and 7 technicians dedicated to advancing our research and development projects through the generation of in vitro, ex vivo and biomarker data. As a team, we use a range of biochemical and cellular assays to support the identification and optimization of our drug candidates. We use molecular biology methodologies for cell line establishment and protein characterization studies. We also support projects with biological understanding of the mechanism of action of our drug candidates. To build our future pipeline, we take part in the innovation process by identification, initiation and maturation of new projects.

As a representative for the department, you will provide understanding of disease mechanisms, cell biology and biochemical assays to the project teams. Internally in the department, you will participate in suggesting and developing the required in vitro and ex vivo assays and analyzing, discussing and presenting data.
In this role you will:
Work with the department scientists and technicians to deliver data, conclusions and recommendations to our research and development projects.

Be one of the drivers in identification, maturation, and/or evaluation of new project ideas.
Represent the department on several research/development projects, providing input to the project concept, science, and plans, as well as overseeing these plans in the department.
On selected projects, take the role of project manager, leading the project team on a path to discover and develop new clinical candidates.
Candidate profile
We are looking for a passionate scientist and open-minded colleague, who has most or all of the below qualifications:

Hands-on experience with cell-based assays, primary cells and possibly biomarkers
Experience with close collaboration and supervision of lab technicians and students
Experience with analysis of large data sets is desirable, but not a requirement
Experience with Drug Discovery Project Management in pharma/biotech is a plus
A good balance between high level overview and an eye for details when needed
Positive attitude, drive and excellent communication skills
Proven scientific track record, showing the ability to work independently and in collaborative teams
A person with good interpersonal skills actively contributing to a good work environment
